CHINESE MEDICINE

Chinese medicine aims to assist the body’s own homeostatic mechanism, (the balance within the body) to restore health using synergistic herbal formulation and non-invasive therapies (predominantly acupuncture, cupping and massage).

In Chinese Medicine we utilise the Yin and Yang theory, which is simply describing the body’s homeostasis mechanism; sickness is a disturbance in the homeostasis, and each patient is treated accordingly.

Chinese Medicine takes a holistic approach:

  • Discussion of patients history and in depth assessment of the body system and lifestyle (emotional, physical, dietary and environmental)

  • Observation of appearance

  • Pulse and tongue diagnosis

These are methods that consider all bodily systems as well as mind/emotions, and environmental factors.

Chinese Medicine understands the body from a holistic point of view. The state of health of the body’s organ systems are influenced by the environment and emotions, and disease is an imbalance of the mind, body and environment.

Acupuncture

ACUPUNCTURE

Acupuncture is an integral part of Chinese Medicine to balance the body’s Qi (energy/life force) and blood flow. In Chinese Medicine the body’s Qi and fluids flow through the organ systems and the pathways (referred to as meridians).

When there is pain, discomfort or disease there is a blockage or disharmony in the flow in the meridians. The external meridians can be accessed through Acupuncture to promote Qi and blood flow where there is disharmony to stimulate the body’s own natural healing mechanisms.

CUPPING

Cupping may be used when there is an injury and/or tightness (a blockage of Qi and/or blood flow), which helps flush out the meridians, muscles and tissues of stagnation. The cups are placed on the afflicted area, usually an acupuncture point, and the air is vacuumed out to create suction. This can have a gentle pinching/pulling sensation but should not be painful. It can leave a mark, which will indicate the state of the body and is used also for diagnosis.

Natural Medicine

NATUROPATHY

Naturopathy views health through a holistic medical system, aiming to address the underlying causes of disease and illness.

As our body is an integrated cellular system all body systems are assessed to identify the possible core issues.

Treating with natural non-invasive methods to promote self-healing, through herbal medicine, nutritional medicine and other natural remedies.

Naturopathy can treat a wide range of ailments, and has a high success rate, generally enhancing the patients knowledge and awareness of self, diet and life style habits.  Naturopathy is also very complimentary when used alongside western medicine in the treatment of more serious ailments and diseases.

Back Massage

MASSAGE THERAPY

A combination of Remedial Chinese and Japanese massage (Tunia and Shiatsu).

Hot stone therapy are used to enable deep tissue relaxation, chronic pain and stress.

Lymphatic drainage helps removes toxins and build up of fluids, and is recommended for detoxification, sluggishness, edema and post surgery.
